Onitsuka Tiger was founded in 1949 by Kihachiro Onitsuka as a basketball shoe manufacturing company in his hometown of Kobe. Onitsuka made a product that complemented the problems of existing basketball shoes by focusing on the sucker function of an octopus, and convinced BIikila Abebe, who won a gold medal barefoot in the 1960 Rome Olympics marathon, to wear shoes he made. After making his shoes, Abebe wore them to win the Mainichi Marathon.

In 1977, Onitsuka Tiger merged with GTO, a sports apparel manufacturer, and JELENK, a knit apparel manufacturer, to form ASICS. It was built.

ASICS is a long-recognized brand that sponsors sports teams in 9 countries including Argentina, Brazil, Canada and Italy, and operates 6 subsidiaries including ASICS Sports and ASICS Tiger.

The GEL-1090 is a sport-style sneaker created with design inspiration from Asics' heritage and motorcycles, and is a modern reinterpretation of the model released in 2003.
