The UB4-S GEL-1130 is the fourth and final collection presented by designer "Kiko Kostadinov" as a creative consultant to ASICS. This is the mid-top version of the GEL-SONOMA 15-50, a fashion trail shoe that was created by adding an upper inspired by cross-country running shoes in the past and the sole of GEL-SONOMA, a trail running shoe. Asics' representative cushioning function, gel technology, is equipped with a thrust function that reduces shock and increases stability.

ASICS started in 1949 when Kihachiro Onitsuka founded Onitsuka Tiger, a basketball shoe manufacturing company, in his hometown of Kobe. Onitsuka created a product that supplemented the problems of existing basketball shoes by focusing on the sucker function of the octopus. To validate his product, he convinced BIIKILA ABEBE, who won gold medal in the marathon at the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome, barefoot, to wear the shoes he had made. After that, Abebe, who wore Onitsuka shoes, won the Mainichi Marathon and was recognized for their excellent quality.

In 1977, Onitsuka Tiger merged with GTO, a sportswear manufacturer, and JELENK, a knitwear producer, to form ASICS. The company name ASICS is taken from the first letter of the Latin phrase 'ANIMA SANA IN CORPORE SANO (Healthy mind in a healthy body)'.
