MM6 MAISON MARGIELA : SB6WD0013 HAND BAG (CHARCOAL)
Maison Margiela is a fashion house founded in 1988 by designer Martin Margiela.
After graduating from the Royal Academy of Antwerp in 1980 and working as an assistant to Jean Paul Gaultier for three years, Martin Margiela founded his own label in 1988. Inspired by the avant-garde designs of Japanese designers, he shocked the fashion industry with a deliberately unfinished collection of frayed hems and inverted seams.
“Fashion is not art. It is a craft, a technical know-how, that the wearer explores and enjoys.”
The remarkable thing about Martin Margiela, who has become one of today's most influential fashion designers, is that he has never been interviewed or photographed in media outlets. The reason was that I wanted to return the attention to the brand to the clothes themselves, not the designers.
The label with nothing written on it and the four white stitches exposed outside the clothes are Margiela's intentional productions that emphasize anonymity. Although Margiela has resisted the existing fashion industry through experimental and bold images and expressions, she is consistently loved by many fashion people for her provocative and minor moves.
The MM6 collection is a line that unravels Maison Margiela's concept in a more casual way, inspired by the street scene. It is based on deconstructivism and features contrasting layering and unique details. By adding new interpretations and details to existing clothes, we are presenting an innovative and rebellious collection that is different from the main line.
