Maison Margiela is a fashion house founded in 1988 by designer Martin Margiela.
After graduating from the Royal Academy of Andrews in 1980 and working as an assistant to Jean Paul Gaultier for three years, Martin Margiela founded his own label in 1988.He pursued a radical and new approach that Japanese designers started a decade ago, deliberately tearing apart the traditional way of creating and marketing clothes with unfinished collections such as Frayed Hems and Inverted Seams.
